Small team.
Absurd surface area.

Come work on the parts that aren’t finished.

SHELY is a women’s and family health platform for India — cycle and pregnancy tracking, telehealth, records, and the software clinics, labs and pharmacies actually run on. Thirteen apps, one codebase, and production infrastructure we run ourselves.

It is also genuinely unfinished, and we know precisely where, because we audit our own codebase and write down what’s broken. That’s the internship: pick up something real, ship it, watch it go live the same week.

The work, concretely

Four real problems, in our own words

Most careers pages describe a culture. Here is the actual state of the codebase you’d be working in — including the parts we’re not proud of.

7,000 endpoints. 56 tests.

That ratio is not a boast, it’s the job. Every untested path is a bug waiting to reach someone’s health record. Closing that gap is the single most useful thing anyone here can do right now.

A kiosk that failed politely.

It greeted the patient, took their phone number, then died on one wrong word in a URL. We found it, fixed it in an afternoon, and wrote down how. There are more like it, and finding them is real work.

Twelve models. Two trained.

We scaffolded twelve ML models and trained two — on synthetic data. So we don’t call it AI yet. Fixing the data pipeline comes before the models, and saying that out loud comes before both.

Ten languages, done properly.

Bengali in Bengali script. Tamil a Tamil speaker doesn’t wince at. Getting Indic health content right is unglamorous, detailed work, and it matters more to the person reading it than any model does.

Before you apply

This won’t suit everyone

If you want a structured programme — a training curriculum, a dedicated manager, a defined path to a full-time offer — we are the wrong place. Those are reasonable things to want, and bigger companies do them properly. We can’t, and we’d rather say so now than in your third week.

What we do have: a real codebase with real users on the other side of it, the freedom to fix what you find broken, and someone who will tell you the truth about where the company actually stands. If that trade sounds good, keep reading.

Nothing here fits you today?

Leave an email and we'll write when something opens. Only when something opens — no newsletter, no digest, no "we're still hiring" nudges. If we go quiet for four months, it's because we had nothing to say.

We store the address to email you about openings and nothing else. Unsubscribe from any email, one click, and it's deleted rather than flagged.

How this actually runs

What you can hold us to

Four commitments. If we break one of these, say so — to the founder, directly.

You ship in week one

No shadowing period, no onboarding theatre. You’ll pick something small and real on day one or two, and it’ll be live within the week.

We write down what’s broken

We audit our own codebase and record every finding, including the embarrassing ones. That document decides what gets built next — and you’ll be able to read it.

No busywork, no unpaid marathons

One take-home, scoped to three or four hours. No multi-day unpaid assignments, no slide decks nobody reads, no fetching anything for anyone.

We say no clearly

If it’s a no, you’ll hear it quickly and with a reason. If we can’t offer full-time at the end, you’ll know that early — not in your final week.

Let's talk

Don't see your role? Reach out anyway.

We don't have a long list of open roles yet — but we're always glad to meet people who care about women's health as much as we do. Tell us who you are and how you'd like to help, and we'll be in touch.
