It's an emergency. Preterm rupture (PPROM) needs immediate hospital evaluation because of the risk of infection and preterm labour. Don't wait and watch — call 102 (Janani Express) or 108, or go straight to a hospital with emergency obstetric care.
Will the hospital be able to confirm whether my waters have broken?
Usually yes. A sterile speculum exam looks for pooling fluid, nitrazine paper or an AmniSure-type test checks the fluid, an ultrasound measures the amniotic fluid level, and a CTG checks the baby. The assessment takes about 1–2 hours and gives a clear answer in most cases.
