Baby Development
- Eyes formed but iris still lacks colour
- Pancreas developing steadily for hormone production
- Lips becoming more distinct
- Grip strength improving — can grasp umbilical cord

- Stretch marks becoming more visible
- Increased hair growth on body
- Gum sensitivity and bleeding
- Feeling warm and sweating more

- Wear breathable cotton clothing
- Maintain regular dental hygiene — brush gently

When to see your doctor at week 22
Some symptoms need attention right away. Contact your doctor or go to the nearest hospital if you notice any of these:
- Heavy bleeding (soaking a pad within an hour)
- Severe or persistent abdominal or pelvic pain
- Fever above 38°C (100.4°F)
- Sudden severe headache, blurred vision or upper-abdominal pain (possible preeclampsia)
- Decreased fetal movement after week 24 (fewer than 10 movements in 2 hours)
Frequently asked questions
Loud noises harmful?
Sustained noise above 85 dB may affect hearing development. Everyday sounds are fine.
Ankle swelling — when to worry?
Mild end-of-day swelling is common. Sudden severe face/hand swelling with headache or vision change is urgent.
Restless legs syndrome?
Increases in T2/T3. Magnesium-rich foods, evening stretches, good sleep hygiene.
