10 weeks pregnant: Vital organs are in place

Here is what to expect this week for you and your baby.

Baby Size Kumquat (small amla) 3.1 cm A strawberry (~3.1 cm). All major organs are formed.

Baby Development

  • All vital organs are formed and beginning to function
  • Tiny fingernails start growing
  • Baby can now swallow and kick
  • Bones begin to harden

Common Symptoms

  • Visible veins on arms and chest
  • Round ligament pain — sharp twinges in lower abdomen
  • Increased vaginal discharge
  • Nausea may start easing for some

  • Start sleeping on your side (left side preferred)
  • Stay active with swimming or walking
  • Apply cocoa butter or coconut oil for skin elasticity

  • Heavy bleeding (soaking a pad within an hour)
  • Severe or persistent abdominal or pelvic pain
  • Fever above 38°C (100.4°F)
