How This Calculator Works
The IVF due date is calculated differently from natural conception:
- 5-day blastocyst: Due date = Transfer date + 261 days
- 3-day embryo: Due date = Transfer date + 263 days
- Both methods aim for a total gestation of 280 days from LMP equivalent
5-Day vs 3-Day Embryo
5-Day Blastocyst:
Grown in the lab for 5 days before transfer. Most common in modern IVF. The embryo is more developed at the time of transfer.
3-Day Embryo:
Transferred at the cleavage stage after 3 days of lab culture. Used in certain clinical situations.
